Hi.

Book Club: The Hobbit

It’s here! It took me longer than anticipated to finish my second book club entry. Clearly this won’t be a monthly thing, like I anticipated. Though it may be a few weeks later than I had hoped, the Bonnythings Creative Book Club for July is ready to go! This month we’re growing and creating alongside The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

I’m so excited, you guys! I absolutely love Tolkien. I’m a huge fantasy fan and I recognize the influence that Tolkien had on almost everything that we enjoy about fantasy today. Because of my great love for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, I may have gone a little overboard with the book club ideas this month. The materials are thirty-five pages long, but don’t let that intimidate you. There’s a lot of great inspiration to be found inside the pages of The Hobbit. I just couldn’t narrow things down.

So, how do you start? Download the book club packet (you’ll find that below). Get yourself a copy of The Hobbit. Get a group together or read it on your own. Enjoy the journey you’ll take with Bilbo Baggins and his dwarf companions. When you’re ready, come back to the book club materials and look through the activity ideas to find the ones that jump out at you, that get you excited. You don’t have to do it all. My guides are meant to be inspiration, they’re meant to get you creating, whether you complete one activity or ten!

Having said that, here’s the Book Club Guide for you to download:

I hope you find some activities that inspire you to create, to grow your confidence, and to have fun! If you try out the book club, let me know in the comments. I’d love your feedback for future book club entries. If you know someone who would be interested, please share! And if you have book suggestions for future book club entries, definitely share your ideas with me!

Happy reading and happy creating!
